Natalie & Tom's Wedding Ceremony @ Flinn Springs Park

Most of the weddings I see are big productions. As part of the "biggest day of their lives," brides and grooms and their friends and families typically take on what seems sometimes like a second job as they plan their weddings. Weddings usually involve countless hours of planning, a team of highly-qualified (usually, but that's another story...) wedding professionals, and lots and lots of money.  Weddings are expensive!

But weddings don't have to be this way.  In fact, here's something to think about... what do you really need to get married?  A bride. A groom.  A marriage license.  Someone to officiate.   A person or two to witness. Love.  The wedding I had the pleasure of photographing involved just these things.  It was a very sweet reminder that at the heart of every wedding there are just the core elements, and everything else is just... fluff for the most part.

This wedding ceremony was simple, quiet, and all around lovely.  Natalie's (the lovely bride) dad performed the marriage ceremony for the couple, which was very special.  The small (but very important) handful of guests sang "here comes the bride" as a proud father walked his daughter over a bridge and down the "aisle" to the gazebo where Natalie and Tom said their I Do's.  The bride had a sweet little bouquet of white roses, hand tied with ribbon in Natalie's favorite color- green.  Speaking of green... Natalie has one of the coolest wedding/engagement rings I've seen in a long time!  An engagement ring with a big sparkly emerald with bands of diamonds surrounding it... so unique and pretty!

Thanks Natalie & Tom, for sharing your special ceremony with me.  It was simply lovely.

  1. It was so good to know about the details from Natalie & Tom's Wedding Ceremony @ Flinn Springs Park. I too would be marrying in the next year and want a picture perfect ceremony so finding the prettiest location is important. We both would love to have the outdoor ceremony at one of the local Chicago venues. It is so exciting thing to get started with our wedding planning.
