Amber & Kyle's Couple's Session @ Presido Park

My couple and I had originally planned to shoot throughout Old Town, but the weather was just too gorgeous out, so people ventured out of their homes and into this historic area.  There were just too many people to get the intimate shots we wanted, so we headed up a windy path to Presido Park and the Junipero Serra Mission, and I'm so glad we did.  The trees were colored beautifully, the lighting was just right, and we got some great images with beautiful warm fall colors.

Amber & Kyle have been married for a couple years now. I was so excited when Amber contacted me to schedule a photo session.  She explained that they had eloped, so they did not have the opportunity for wedding photographs or traditional engagement photos.  I also found out that Amber is a bit of a photographer herself, but she also said that as a couple, they had very few "good" photographs of the two of them together.  And isn't that the truth for a lot of us?  I know my husband and I fall into that category too!  They finally decided it was time for some couple's photos, and of course, a few with their babies-- their adorable pups Arlo and Elliot.  We had a lot of fun with them.  Amber & Kyle plan to use their photos as gifts for their family members for the holidays. What a great idea!

Here are a few of my favorites!

A Stroll Through Old Town

I'm doing a couple's shoot in Old Town with a a great couple later this month, and I realized I hadn't really spent a lot of time there (except for dinner) in the past few years.  I had some time today, so I headed over there and spent a lovely afternoon in an awesome historic part of San Diego.

The blend of history, culture, and vibrant, colorful atmosphere gives Old Town a certain romantic charm.  I can't wait to do the couple's session there!

I think this is a great spot to take a few romantic photos

I love the modern-style glasswork on this very old church.  So beautiful.

The blue ceiling is great!

There were quite a few Dia de los Muertos and Halloween decorations out.  Love it!

On my way out of the park I found this great tin shop.  It was full of hand-crafted pieces all made out of tin, many with light features.  I wish I had a reason to buy one of those lighted stars!

I really forgot how great Old Town is.  It seems like there are so many opportunities for great photos.  If you feel inspired and want to do some sort of photo session here, let me know!  I'd love another reason to visit!
